Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative

On December 8, The Democratic Committee of Lower Merion and Narberth voted to support the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). 72% of Pennsylvanians agree that something needs to be done to preserve our natural resources and to protect our health and property from the negative effects of global warming. They, like the members of the DCLMN, believe the best next step is for Pennsylvania to join the RGGI.It is a consortium of all the New England states and all the Mid-Atlantic states except Pennsylvania to set a maximum output of greenhouse gases.Companies will buy their allotment through a cap and trade system. The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is taking comment and signatures of support. Visit the DEP website for a wealth of information.
